Job Description:
Applications Administrator/Engineer
This role of the Applications Administrator/Engineer will be to deploy various Industry Applications, which reside on Databases such as Oracle and SQL. The engineer will be expected to take existing documentation and use that as a guide in designing and installing the Database. The engineer will be the Applications/Database Subject Matter Expert (SME), within a team that has Storage, SAN and Operating System SME¿s.
Job Responsibilities/Required Skills:
- Design solutions considering performance and scalability requirements for Industry Applications such as PACS, HL7, DICOM, and Petrel among others from the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Industry.
- Work with the Industry Strategy Practice and Solutions Team, Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, Consulting, and Technology Partners, to develop and implement world-class integrated solutions.
- Installation, customization and configuration of the baseline application software, coordinating with other internal and external parties as necessary.
- Coordinate application system installations and upgrades.
- Good experience and in-depth understanding of database backup and recovery methodologies and first hand implementation experience of backup/recovery solutions.
- Implement virtualization strategies for the solution, to enable deployment in virtualized data centers.
- Solid understanding, experience and troubleshooting of complex Database and Application environments.
- Design and build database environments e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase, DB2, SharePoint with consideration for backup and recovery along with disaster recovery.
- Testing and performance tuning of the application, database and backup layers.
- Support of the server environment on which the application is running.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, Unix Shell/Perl scripting is a plus.
- Configure and optimize O/S, network, database, application server tiers of the solution.
- Design and capture configuration and testing methods for reference architecture and proven solution documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with participatory decision-making.
Experience Required: 4-6 Years.
Education Required: Bachelors (Tech) or equivalent.
